Cost Accountant

Location: Maple Grove, MN

Our client, a growing global manufacturing company, is seeking a Cost Accountant to support its operations across multiple international sites. This role will work closely with engineering, production, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost analysis, variance tracking, and process improvements that drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to establish and monitor standard product costs.

• Prepare and review bills of materials (BOMs) and analyze cost variances (e.g., material price and usage, labor efficiency, overhead spending).

• Oversee the annual standard cost roll for global locations, ensuring accuracy in system updates.

• Evaluate inventory aging across multiple sites and assist in determining necessary reserves.

• Create and post journal entries related to cost accounting and inventory for month-end close.

• Assist with audits, tax preparation, and reconciliation of inventory accounts.

• Participate in physical and cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy.

• Work cross-functionally to streamline cost accounting processes and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
